KATHMANDU, MAY 17
A 16-year-old Chinese girl summited Mount Everest this spring season.
Sui Cho Yuan, a Chinese national, successfully reached atop Everest via the south slope at 5:42am on Monday.
Organising a press conference here today, Nepal Big Mountain Travel shared this information.
The travel agency had facilitated Yuan's summit according to Managing Director Sudarshan Nepal. The Chinese girl is said to be the youngest woman climber to have ascended Mount Everest.
Yuan said she was inspired by her father, Lei, who had scaled the Everest from the north slope in 2007. Although the adverse weather posed obstruction in the beginning, the weather was clear on the day she reached atop the world's highest peak.
She extended thanks to the Sherpas who assisted her in climbing Everest.
The Everest region has been polluted with trash.
The team comprising Yuan has brought back used materials from the region to keep it clean.
Meanwhile, former Chair of Nepal Mountaineering Association Ang Chhiring Sherpa said there was no provision for issuing permit to people below 16 for climbing Everest.
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Everest summit this year, various programmes are being organised in the country. The climbing season for this year had begun on May 13.
