23 parties registered for the upcoming elections being held on May 13

An estimated 1,600 personnel could be required in Tanahun to manage the local level elections being held on May 13, as per district election officials.

Chief of District Election Office, Hari Prasad Dhakal said, more than 2,400 workforce would be deployed in the district for the local level election, comprising 1,504 employees, 90 staffers in 10 local level election officer's offices, and 900 volunteers. The details of the staff are being collected, Dhakal added.

Similarly, the District Election Office is preparing to utilize the vote boxes that were used in past elections.

Tanahun's election office has 1,200 vote boxes in stock which will be used for the local level elections.

According to Dhakal, there are 43, 80 and 85 litter capacity ballot boxes with the office that were bought for the 2074 BS election. Meanwhile, some ballot boxes have been in use since 2064 BS. The boxes will be cleaned and reused again this year.

The office also claimed that the final voter list of the district will be published by April 27.

Meanwhile, 23 parties including nationally recognized ones have been registered in Tanahun for the local polls.

The Election Office stated that six nationally recognized parties and 17 additional parties have submitted their details.

Furthermore, Dhakal noted that the election symbols would be presented to representatives of the 23 parties.

Apart from that, other individuals can run for election independently.

Apart from the nationally recognized parties, the remaining 17 parties would be allocated electoral insignia according to the constitution of their respective parties.
