16,000 women to get their womb examined

When about 75 per cent of women in the country suffer from diseases of the womb, 16,000 women are to get their womb examined.

Though in the developed countries cancer is very easily checked but the condition in Nepal is different due to the lack of bodies that identifies the cancer and also due to lack of awareness in the public about 95 per cent women suffering from cancer dies.

With the support of Nepal Network for Cancer Treatment Research (NNCTR), women between 30 and 59 are to get their womb checked from Ashad at BP Memorial Cancer Hospital, Bharatpur, Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital and Thir Memorial Hospital situated at Banepa informs Surrendra Bahadur Shrestha, president of Kavre section of Nepal Leprosy Eradication Association.

According to Radhapyari Nakarmi, programme officer of NNCTR, Banepa, “ We have not exact record of how many women in the country are actually suffering from womb infection. However, we believe that the number of the women suffering from cancer in their wombs will be found out.” The instrument used for examining the wombs of the women has been reached for Banepa and Bharatpur hospitals, said he. In connection with such problems seen with women, they are organising public awareness programmes at many places throughout the country, he said.

Such type of awareness creating programmes against cancer is being run at several schools of the district. “Since we have lack of proper man power for the treatment of cancer, we are not providing the treatment in whatever manner we should be. However, we had recently sent a group of doctors to Calcutta, India in order to take part in a training programme,” he says. Meanwhile, a training programme was recently held for the students of class 8 to 10 and also for their parents and security forces.
