17 booths, 31 election centres in Panchthar

Seventeen booths and 31voting centres have been fixed for the by-election in three local levels election scheduled for November 30 in Panchthar.

According to Panchthar District Election Office, thirteen voting booths and 23 voting centres have been fixed for the by-election of chairman of Phalgunanda Rural Municipality. The election office further informed that one voting booth and four voting centres have been fixed for the post of ward chairman in Phidim Municipality-1 while three voting booths and four voting centres were also fixed for the post of ward chairman in Hilihang Rural Municipality-7.

As many as 16, 577 voters will cast their ballot in Phalgunanda Rural Municipality. Similarly, 3,676 voters will cast vote in Phidim Municipality-7 and 2,600 in Hilihang Rural Municipality-7. The district election office has also finalised election officers for three places and preparations to set up the office of election officers are under way.

Ambar Kumar Nembang from Nepali Congress was elected to the post of chairman in Phalgunanda Rural Municipality in the last local level election. Similarly, Harka Bahadur Moktan from the NC was elected as ward chairman of Phidim Municipality-1 and Tirtha Timsina from the then CPN-UML was elected chairman of Hilihang Rural Municipality-7.

The by-election is scheduled in places where elected representatives have died. Political parties are preparing as the election date approaches.
