17 injured in Dhading jeep plunge; 11 airlifted to Kathmandu

DHADING: At least seventeen persons sustained injuries as jeep plunged 150 metres down the road at Jaljale in Netrawoti Dabjong Rural Municipality-5 of Dhading district today.

According to police, among the injured passengers,12 persons are said to be in critical condition. Eleven persons have been airlifted and one has been transported on an ambulance to Kathmandu for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the remaining victims are undergoing treatment at a local health facility.

The ill-fated jeep (Na 1 Ja 7390) was heading to Khaniyabas Rural Municipality from Dhadingbesi, district headquarters, before plunging down the road around 3:00 pm, police said.

According to Chief District Officer Bhagirath Adhikari, Nepal Army's night vision helicopter and Summit Air's chopper have been used to airlift the victims from the district hospital to Kathmandu this evening.

Majority of the vehicles plying on rural roads across Nepal carry passengers over capacity leading to fatal accidents.
