BHOJPUR: At least 18 people were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident at Ramdhuni Bhasi-4 of Sunsari district along the East-West Highway on Sunday.

According to the Biratnagar-based Eastern Regional Police Office, the bus skidded off the road after losing control and fell into a canal on the roadside.

The ill-fated bus (Lu 1 Kha 9398) was travelling to Kakadbhitta from Pokhara when the accident occurred.

The injured have been sent to Itahari for treatment.

Police said they are searching for the bus driver, who is on the run following the incident.
