190 polling centres set up in Kaski

Pokhara, February 13:

A total of 190 polling centres —184 permanent and six temporary — have been set up in Kaski for the upcoming constituent assembly elections.

A meeting of the Poll Centre Recommendation Committee (PCRC) held yesterday under the chairmanship of the Chief District Officer had recommended the number of polling booths for the district. According to the PCRC, permanent voters will cast their votes in the permanent centres, while army and police personnel and employees of corporations and government offices would cast their votes in the temporary booths. Polling booths for army men have been set up in Phulbari and Bijaypur barracks, while civil police and civil servants will cast their votes in the DDC office.

According to the District Election Office (DEO), 62 poll centres have been established in constituency number one, 72 in constituency number two and 50 centres in constituency number three. DEO chief Ghanashyam Bhandari said there are some 46,000 new voters in the district this year, taking the total of voters to 3,16,000.
