2 dozen UDMF cadres held for sloganeering against Bijukchhe
RAJBIRAJ: At least two dozen cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front were arrested after they tried to foil the second convention of Nepal Revolutionary Farmers' Association (NRFA) organised in Rajbiraj of Saptari district on Friday.
The Madhesi Front cadres had tried to thwart the convention of NRFA, a sister organisation of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party.
A large number of security personnel had been deployed in the area after the UDMF workers chanted slogans against the NWPP Chairman Narayan Man Bijukchhe.
Police have arrested National Madhes Socialist Party district chair Satish Kumar Singh, Sadbhawana Party leader Laxman Yadav and Kailu Ram Yadav among others.
They had protested as Bijukchhe had been repeatedly speaking against federalism, the Constitution and sentiments of the Madhes region, said a protester.
Though the Chairman was scheduled to address the inaugural ceremony, it was cancelled in the last hour due to his absence, informed the NWPP lawmaker Dilli Prasad Kafle.
