2 killed, 1,000 houses submerged in Babai flash flood

NEPALGUNJ: Two persons were killed and hundreds of houses were submerged after Babai River flood water gushed into the settlement in Gulariya, the district headquarters of Bardiya, on Sunday.

More than 1000 houses have been submerged in the flood water due to the continuous rainfall, said said SP Bharat Bahadur Bohora at the Bardiya District Police Office. “The houses are on the verge of collapse as water level has reached upto three feet from the surface.”

A joint team mobilised from the Nepal Police, Nepal Army and Armed Police force has been continuing the rescue works in the flood-hit areas.

Meanwhile, Minister for Home Affairs Janardan Sharma has been inspecting the flood-hit areas in Banke and Bardiya today.
