KATHMANDU: Two persons died and 20 others sustained injuries in a bus-truck collision in Thakre Rural Municipality-7 of Dhading district on Sunday night.

The deceased have been identified as truck driver Manoj Khadki (25) of Satdobato in Lalitpur district and bus passenger Ayushma Bhattarai (16) of Gaur Municipality-5 in Rautahat district.

According to police, the incident occurred when the bus (Na 5 Kha 2467) and the truck (Na 6 Kha 6511) collided with each other in Dashkilla at 10:15 pm yesterday.

Khadki succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital while Bhattarai breathed her last during the course of treatment at Ganeshman Memorial Hospital, Lalitpur, informed District Police Office, Dhading.

Among the injured, seven are undergoing treatment at the Dhading-based Mahadevi polyclinic while rest of them are being treated at various Kathmandu and Lalitpur based health facilities.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
