2 missing, 4 injured after jeep plunges into Trishuli River

RATNANAGAR: Two persons have been reported missing and four others injured after a Bolero jeep plunged into the Trishuli River this morning at Kabilas road stretch in Chitwan.

Those missing in the road accident have been identified as Bishnu Maya Gurung (65) and her 13-year-old grandson, Kabin Gurung, the residents of Taku-6 in Gorkha district, according to District Police Office, Chitwan.

The Jeep driver Shiva Khadka (33) of Kalika Municipality-5 in Chitwan district, and Bhim Bahadur Gurung (40), Tika Gurung (28) and five-year-old Newtal Gurung , all the residents of Taku of Gorkha, were injured in the accident.

The incident occurred when the ill-fated jeep (Na 3 Kha 7543) en route to Gorkha from Khairhani Municipality of Chitwan fell into the river in Satra Kilo area of Kabilas VDC-4 at around 3:00 am.

The injured are receiving treatment at the Bharatpur-based Chitwan Medical College.

Police are trying to recover the jeep from the river.
