GAUSHALA: Police on Friday arrested two persons for allegedly manufacturing and selling toxic liquor in Mahottari district.

Police apprehended them after five people lost their lives after drinking such liquor in Mahottari district.

According to SP Janak Bhattarai of the District Police Office, Mahottari, the suspects have been identified as Jagat Bahadur Bulun of Hattilet VDC-4 and Binod Mahara of Sahasaul VDC-6.

Rambrishya Mallik (70) and his son Ram Pragas Mallik (35) of Sahasaul-6, his daughter Kalawati Devi (40), son-in law Pancha Mallik (45) of Gaushala Municipality-7 and father of Pancha Mallik, Badri Mallik (60) of Aurahi VDC had died after drinking toxic liquor bought from the shop of Mahara last week.

Bulun manufactures the liquor while Mahara sells the liquor produced by Bulun.

Both of them have been brought to the District Police Office, Mahottari, for investigation.
