2 security men, 1 Maoist killed

In the continuing violence across the country, the Maoists shot dead a police constable at Rambachchha of Waling Municipality in Syangja while one Maoist cadre was killed and two security personnel injured in an encounter in Khewang VDC of Taplejung, and one RNA personnel was shot dead in Prakauli in Janakpurdham. A group of Maoists shot dead police constable Shyam Lal Gaire of Area Police Office, Waling, this morning. He was called to a house for tea by three Maoist cadres and was shot dead.

The deceased was from Motipur VDC, Kapilvastu. According to reports from Taplejung, one Maoist cadre was killed and two security personnel injured in an encounter between Maoists and security forces at Khewang VDC yesterday. The security team was looking for the policemen abducted by Maoists from Pashupatinagar. According to district based security sources, Buddhi Shrestha alias Bipul, was killed in the clash. Two security personnel injured in the clash, who were being treated at the Taplejung District Hospital, were airlifted to district headquarters this morning.

Locals of Patali, Sabadin VDC, arriving at the headquarters said sounds of firing could be heard in the area early this morning. It is also reported a helicopter is patrolling the area.

Meanwhile in Janakpurdham, one Royal Nepalese Army jawan was shot dead in the premises of the barrack in Prakauli village development committee of Mahottari district at around 5.30 pm today.

The deceased was Ashok Thapa Magar of Tribhuvan municipality, Gorkha. He succumbed to his injuries at the Jaleshwor District Hospital while undergoing treatment, according to security sources.Sources suspected the Maoists were behind the shooting but gave no further details. Magar had been transferred to the barrack only 10 days ago. In another incident, an unidentified gang shot and injured a teacher, Dhirendra Nath Jha, of Anandanagar, Janakpur municipality-4 yesterday at around 10.30 pm. Jha also sustained injuries to the head believed to have been rendered by a sharp weapon.
