2 SLC examinees commit suicide
Jhapa, July 7:
Two SLC examinees — one in Jhapa district and another in Syangja district — committed suicide after failing in the exam.
Anita Baraili, 18, a resident of Anarmani-4 in Jhapa ended her life by taking poison last evening, her uncle Narayan said. “Anita died after consuming poison,” Dr Himal Dahal at Mechi Zonal Hospital said.
Of the 12,420 regular students who appeared for the SLC exam this year from Jhapa, 6,268 passed the exam. Of the 33,577 exempted students attending the exam, 871 passed, the Jhapa District Education Office said.
A report from Syangja said Sabita Poudel, 17, a resident of Kalakhola of Putalibazaar municipality-1, killed herself last evening after she failed in the exam. Sabita hung herself from the kitchen ceiling while there was nobody in the house, the Syangja District Police Office said.
