Rautahat, May 3
As many as 46 persons faced action for power theft during a 20-day campaign launched in Rautahat.
Responding to the call of the central office of Nepal Electricity Authority, the local electricity distribution centre of Rautahat, with support of the district police office, had mobilised a team to control power theft in the district since April 13.
According to sources at the centre, the team removed over 2,500 hooks on the power grid and seized 28 electric appliances.
“We’ve also collected Rs 2.4 lakh in fine from power pilferers,” said the centre’s chief Binod Yadav. “We warned them as it was their first time, but they won’t be spared if we catch them again,” Yadav vowed.
