2,000 quit NC in Rautahat
Rautahat, February 28:
At least 2,000 cadres of the Nepali Congress here quit the party today, expressing dissatisfaction over fielding Udhav Dhakal as the party’s candidate for first-past-the-post system of CA polls from Constituency No 6 of Rautahat.
They alleged that Dhakal was involved in suppressing the Jana Andolan II. Among those quitting the party are Constituency No 6 president Ajay Shah, mahasamiti member Nepal Karki, district committee member Laxmi Baral, regional treasurer Ramagya Prasad Yadav, general convention representative Surya Bahadur Thapa and Nepal Student Union’s district vice-president Nawaraj Devkota.
The group led by Ajay Shah said Dhakal was unacceptable to them as he was involved in suppressing the movement.
Meanwhile, Terai-Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) today claimed that at least 2,000 cadres affiliated to various political parties in Rautahat have joined joined it, accusing their former parties of ignoring the Madhes agitation.
TMLP said cadres affiliated to the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and Nepal Sadbhawana Party-Anandidevi (NSP-A) joined it.
Frontline NC activists Nagendra Prasad Sinha and Arun Kumar Singh, UML activist Ganga Shah and NSP-A members Nagendra Shah and Sanjeev Shah were among those joining the TMLP, according to district president of the party Ajay Kumar Gupta.
