A youth of Bijayanagar VDC in Pyuthan district has bobbitised himself out of depression after his parents “failed to get him a wife”.

Dor Bhadur Kumal, 21, of Ratamata Dadagaun was frustrated with his parents’ decision to postpone his marriage.

He is undergoing treatment at the Pyuthan district hospital, said Dr Sharad Pokhrel.

“He wanted to get married but we did not take his demand seriously. We told him to wait for sometime but he took an unexpected step,” said Kumal’s aging mother.

Although the family said he might have chopped off his organ in a drunken state, Dor Bahadur said his parents’ refusal to get him a bride spurred him to take the step.

The doctors performed a two-and-a-half-hour surgery on him, Dr Pokhrel said.

“He is out of danger but we don’t know for sure whether he will be able to use the organ productively,” he told The Himalayan Times.
