3 held with pistol and bullets paraded
Rai was arrested with the semi-automatic pistol loaded with nine rounds of bullets during a regular security check at the Bhimfedi on Sunday. The weapon was hidden inside a bag.
Police informed that he was detained from a sumo (Na 1 Ja 2915) heading towards Kathmandu from Hetaunda.
Similarly, Chhetri was arrested from near the Hanuman gate, Hetaunda-9 at around 4 pm yesterday by a team of the District Police Office, Makwanpur.
Likewise, Ansari (22), who is currently residing at Old Bus Park, was rounded up from Kathmandu in coordination with the Metropolitan crime division, said DSP Sishu Sharma, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Makwanpur.
Police informed that they will continue their investigation after charging them under the Arms and Ammunition Act, 2019.
It has been learned that SP Mira Chaudary, who was appointed the Chief of District Police Office, Makwanpur, assumed the office today itself.
Talking to the media persons during a press conference this afternoon, she said that a special campaign would be launched to establish peace and security in the district.
She further said security has been beefed up in the highways to curb crimes in view of upcoming Dashain festival.
