3 killed, 2 injured in road accidents
POKHARA: Two college students riding a motorcycle died in Pokhara's New Road when a truck ran over them today. The deceased are Bikas Chhantyal, 19, and Parbat Gurung, 18, both residents of Birauta in Pokhara-17, District Police Office (DPO) Kaski stated. The police have taken the truck and its driver in custody. While the bodies of the deceased have been sent for autopsy.
Following the accident, irate locals, students and teachers obstructed vehicular movements in the area. The police fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesters as situation got tense. Nawaraj Adhikary, a teacher was injured in police action. Adhikary is undergoing treatment at a hospital in New Road.
Meanwhile, Suraj Aryal, 22, hailing from Kathmandu, died after a tractor hit him near Surya Tobacco, today. DPO Bara stated that another injured Balaram Basnet, 18, is undergoing treatment in Birgunj.
Likewise, two persons were injured when a bus hit the motorcycle they were riding in Manahari of Tanahun's Chhang VDC-5, today. The injured, Tej Bahadur BK and his sister in law Kopila, 36, both residents of Dulegaonda VDC-9 are undergoing treatment at Setiganga Community Hospital, DPO Tanahun said.
