3 killed, 6 injured in Kalikot jeep accident
KALIKOT: As many as three persons died on the spot and six others sustained injuries after a jeep they were travelling on met with an accident in Khandachakra Municipality-1 of Kalikot district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Jayarup Bumi (45) of Bhiee in Soru Rural Municipality-3; Nara Bikram Malla (46) of Srinagar in Rara Municipality; both the residents of Mugu district, and Yadu Ram Neupane of Kartikswami in Chandannath Municipality of Jumla district. Like wise, the injured have been identified as Bishnu Raj Dhami; Laxmi Rawot; Kisim Karki and Mayalaxmi Malla, all the residents of Mugu district, Santa Bahadur Shahi of Humla district and jeep driver Indra Prasad Tharu of Nepalgunj in Banke distrcit.
The incident occurred when the Bolero Jeep (Lu 2 Cha 2003) en route from Mugu to Surkhet met with an accident at District Hospital turning in Kalikot this morning, killing three, informed Kalikot DPO.
It has been learnt that the jeep was transporting Mayalaxmi (19), a pregnant daughter of deceased Nara Bikram to Kalilkot District Hospital for child delivery while also carrying six passengers from Mugu. There were altogether nine people aboard the ill-fated jeep including the driver when the incident occurred.
Meanwhile, the injured are undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Kalikot. The driver Tharuis said to be in critical condition, informed police.
The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, said police and added that further investigation into the case is underway.
