3 new ministries in the making

Kathmandu, August 31:

A cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office today decided to create three new ministries, splitting the existing ones.

A separate Industry Ministry had been formed, carving out the existing Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies. While the Ministry of Youth and Sports has been created by splitting the Ministry of Education and Sports. The Ministry of Culture and State Restructuring has been formed by breaking the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministry. The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has been replaced with the Ministry of Law, Justice and Constituent Assembly.

The cabinet meeting also gave its approval to foreign aid and assistance. It ratified the Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) reached with various donors regarding foreign aid and assistance to the country.

The cabinet has also scrapped the existing provision of providing expenses for foreign trip that a leader used to enjoy under miscellaneous accounts of the government. Now on, the cabinet will decide on such expenses depending upon the country where a leader pays his/her visit.
