31 vehicles seized for extracting river products

Police took as many as 31 vehicles under control that were being used to extract and transport river products at Kerunge Khola of Kawasoti in Nawalparasi today.
A joint team led by Local Development Officer Jiblal Bhusal had taken the vehicles under control. The team comprised representatives of the District Forest Office, District Administration Office and District Police Office.
Bhusal said he had begun the campaign after receiving several complaints regarding the use of the vehicles for illegal extraction of river products. Bhusal was transferred to Nawalparasi district as the local development officer last week.
The team took three JCB vehicles, 23 tippers and five tractors under control today. LDO Bhusal said action against the seized vehicles would be taken under the Forest Act. Staffers from the forest office, police and District Development Committee had reached the river site to seize the vehicles.
LDO Bhusal warned that anyone found involved in illegal extraction of river products would be brought to book.
