319 Nepalis living abroad have succumbed to Covid-19 thus far: NRNA

KATHMANDU: Two more Nepalis living abroad died from coronavirus infection in the past week.

According to Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), one person passed away in London while the other one died in South Africa.

According to the Health Committee under NRNA, with the latest fatalities, the Covid-19 death-toll of Nepalis living in 20 different countries abroad has reached 319.

As many as 54,591 Nepalis living in 50 different countries were infected with coronavirus till Saturday. Of them, 52,945 have recovered, informed Sajeev Sapkota, Coordinator of the Health Committee.

More Nepalis living in London, Japan, middle-east countries and South Africa have been infected with coronavirus in the last one week.

Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Employment and Welfare of the NRNA also organised a special virtual workshop regarding suicide prevention after Nepalis who are in overseas employment are found suffering from mental health related issues.

The Department has organised three such such workshops thus far.
