KATHMANDU: Nepal on Thursday reported 336 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 268,646.

Of the total cases, 122 are females while 214 are males.

In the last 24 hours, 198 cases surfaced in Kathmandu valley. The capital hosts the highest number of active cases.

Likewise, 226 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry. As of today, 262,868 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 97.9 per cent.

Nepal’s active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 3,799.

Meanwhile, four more fatalities from the disease have taken the total death-toll to 1,979.

According to the health ministry, 5,030 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,031,756 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 172 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

Globally, more than 96.5 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 2.06 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19. Likewise, over 69 million people have recovered from the disease and around 25 million cases are still active.

On Wednesday, Nepal’s coronavirus case count reached 268,310 with 318 newly confirmed cases.
