Nepal breaks another grim record with 7,388 new Covid-19 cases on Monday

Breaking its past record of 7,137 cases, Nepal reported 7,388 cases of Covid-19 from across the country on Monday. With this, the total nationwide infection count has advanced to 343,418.
Meanwhile, antigen tests confirmed 75 positive cases in the past 24 hours. As such, total infections from both RT-PCR and antigen tests added up to 7,448 today.
As many as 37 people succumbed to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours after which Nepal's death count from the highly contagious infection has reached 3,362.
According to the health ministry, 17,176 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 16,658 were PCR tests while 518 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,521,164 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.
Of the total cases updated today, Kathmandu district holds the highest number of new infections with 2,922 cases. Lalitpur reported 522 cases whereas 222 new cases were reported from Bhaktapur.
Likewise, 2,021 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.
As of today, 286,015 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate from the disease declines to 83.3 per cent.
Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 54,041.
Currently, there are 212 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.
On Sunday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 336,030 with 7,137 newly confirmed cases.
Globally, over 153 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.2 million people have lost their lives to the disease.
Likewise, over 130 million people have recovered while more than 19 million cases are still active.
