4 Indian grocers swindle millions out of Lamjung cooperatives, locals
LAMJUNG: Four Indian nationals, who were the owners of groceries in Lamjung district for over a decade, are on the run after allegedly swindling locals and cooperatives out of more than Rs 20 million.
According to the cooperatives, Rajesh Kumar Saha owned a grocery at Purano Bank Chok, Bal Krishna Baniya at Bhimsensthan Chok, while Nabin Baniya and Satish Baniya had groceries at Narayansthan Chok, all in Besisahar in the district.
The alleged swindlers are the permanent residents of Raksaul and are all siblings.
They had taken a loan of Rs 56, 58, 772 from 15 cooperative firms, according to Bimal Shrestha, former Chairperson of Besisahar Regional Cooperative Committee.
The group had also swindled locals out of millions of rupees, the victims accused.
The cooperative firms in the district provide loan without keeping proper documents and property details as collateral in the view of earning more commission and profits.
