4 NC cadres thrashed over mayoral post win in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: As many as four Nepali Congress cadres have been seriously injured after the CPN-UML cadres thrashed them on the way to a victory rally in Brindaban Rural Municipality-5 in Rautahat district on Saturday.

The injured have been identified as Sheikh Khairullah, Sheikh Merazul, Sheikh Jaheer and Mohammed Saimullah. All four have serious injuries on their head.

NC cadres were on their way to participate in the rally after winning the mayoral and deputy mayoral post in the RM when the UML cadres including candidate Binod Kurmi reportedly attacked them with weapons including bamboo sticks.

The injured have been undergoing treatment at the Chandranigahapur Hospital in the district, informed NC Mahasamiti member Dev Prasad Timilsina.

“They also robbed Rs 33,000 cash from us,” said Saimullah.

We strongly condemn the barbaric act, said Timilsina, adding that the party has demanded immediate action against the culprit.

According to SP Yagya Binod Pokharel at the Rautahat District Police Office, police are searching for the culprits and further investigation is underway.
