4 police personnel injured in Rajbiraj bomb explosion

KATHMANDU: As many as four police personnel have been injured in a pressure cooker bomb explosion in Surunga Municipality-6 of Saptari district on Saturday night.

Inspector Rajendra Yadav, along with three others, sustained injuries in the explosion when the bomb exploded under a police van (Ba 1 Jha 7392) they were travelling on last night, said the Kadarban APO in Saptari.

The bomb, planted by an unidentified gang and hidden in a road depression, exploded at around 9:35 pm yesterday, added the APO.

The bomb exploded right under the driver seat injuring Yadav and causing partial damage to the van, informed the APO.

Around 12 police personnel were aboard the vehicle when the incident took place.

We are yet to identify the persons behind the incident, said the APO.

All four injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Lahan, None of the remaining eight police personnel sustained any injuries, said police

Further investigation is underway.
