400-year-old monastery awaits renovation

TAPLEJUNG: A historical Diki-Chhyoling Monastery at Olangchunggola in the district is in a dilapidated state due to lack of timely maintenance.

The 400-year-old monastery is awaiting renovation as several parts are seen cracked and are damaged due to last year's earthquake.

The monastery management committee chair Nurpu Sherpa complained that the concerned authority was not paying serious concerns for timely maintenance of the monastery with historical, cultural and religious values.

He informed that hundreds of historical and cultural scriptures, idols, paintings related to Buddhism have been kept in the monastery and now are at a high risk of damage.
