4000 litres of milk destroyed

KAVRE: Farmers on Friday destroyed 4,000 litres of milk by spilling it in Banepa to protest the apathy of Dairy Development Corporation and National Dairy Development Board to give them an increased price. Agitating farmers also stopped Kathmandu-bound milk tankers. Milk collected at government and private chilling centres was destroyed. DDC and NDDB are yet to implement the new rates the government fixed -- increased by Rs 2.6 per litre -- on August 14. Farmers affiliated with Nepal Dairy Producers' Cooperative Association also spilled 120 litres of milk at Bhaisepat area of Sanga brought from adjoining areas.
