449 receive second tranche of housing grant

As many as 449 earthquake victims have received the second instalment of government grant for reconstruction of houses in Nawalparasi.

According to National Reconstruction Authority District Project Implementation Unit Nawalparasi, as many as 852 houses of eastern Nawalparasi and 20 of the western part of the district were completely damaged in the earthquake.

As many as 870 quake victims have already received the first instalment amount. Of them, 439 quake victims of east Nawalparasi and 10 from the west have received the second instalment amount of Rs 150,000.

Chief at the implementation unit Rajendra Karki said the amount would be distributed to the remaining victims.

Karki said the project office was established in Kawasoti and work was in progress. “The reconstruction of houses will be completed by mid-December,” he added.

Karki said they could not reach the areas for field study due to the monsoon. He said the second instalment of housing grant would be distributed to quake victims after the field study was completed.
