NAWALPARASI: Launching crackdowns ahead of Tihar, a squad from the District Police Office, arrested 28 people who were for gambling at Devchuli Party Place of Devchuli municipality-13 in Nawalparasai district.

Police have recovered Rs 580,000 cash from the gamblers & kept at the District Police Office for further actions.

Similarly, during a late-night raid, 17 people were arrested from a private house at Gulmi Durbar rural municipality-7 for gambling.

They were taken under control from the house of Lila Singh Adhikari. Police seized Rs 282,000 from them, confirmed Deputy Superintendent of Police Meen Bahadur Ghale.

Those accused will stand trial under the existing laws.
