"47 killed in floods, landslides across Nepal in 3 months"

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet has informed the Legislature Parliament on Friday that 47 people were killed and 16 others had gone missing in landslides and floods across Nepal in the past three months.

The Minister said that a total of 121 incidents of landslide and flood were reported during the period.

As many as 138 houses were damaged completely and 160 others sustained partial damages, according to him.

Districts like Sindhupalchok, Nuwakot, Gorkha, Salyan, Lamjung, Rolpa, Dhading, Baglung, Sindhuli, Gulmi, Bajura, Chitwan, Morang and Dang have been most affected by the natural disasters.

He said that efforts were on to resume transportation along various highways like Araniko, Darchula, Karnali and Pasang Lhamu obstructed by the landslides.

The Minister also informed the Parliament about the death of two children after a compound wall collapsed and fell in the classrooms at a private school in Taukhel in Lalitpur recently.
