5.2 local magnitude quake hits Dolakha

KATHMANDU: A significant earthquake has hit Dolakha district on Friday morning.

The National Seismological Centre said the tremor at 8:36 am was of local magnitude 5.2, listing it as an earthquake of the 2015 Gorkha earthquake sequence.

The epicentre lied at Dolakha, near Jiri, with coordinates 27.68°N and 86.19°E and at the depth of 10 kilometers.

The tremor was felt in adjoining districts and denizens in Kathmandu Valley had also felt the tremor.

Thousands of aftershocks followed the devastating earthquake on April 25, 2015.
