5 officials held for fraud
Dang, September 22:
The local administration has arrested five government officials including the chief of the Mid-Western Regional Irrigation Development No 1 Sub-division of Rukum, on charges of corruption on Tuesday. According to a source, they were arrested after proof was of fraud was found in the Rs 2,700,000 budget of the Bhedakharka Irrigation Canal Repair Project.
The arrested officials will be handed over to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority. It is said that the video of the canal said to be repaired, other documents and the statements of local residents will be presented as a proof of fraud in the case to the CIAA. The arrested officials are engineer Binay Kumar Gami, accountant Sanu Narayan Adhikari, overseers Ramchandra Pandit and Bindeshwor Shah and fielder Kul Bahadur Shah. One other overseer charged with corruption in the case has been is absconding, the source said.
