Traffic police today seized 50 tippers that were loaded beyond their capacity with limestone in Siraha.

Tippers loaded with limestone for Maruti Cement and Surya Cement industries were taken under control for action. The vehicles were heading towards Udayapur district from Kakur khola in Sindhuli district.

DSP Ram Kumar Dhakal of the Province 2 Police Office said the tippers were seized as they had been ferrying limestone double their capacity. “We seized tippers during traffic checking as they were carrying limestone far beyond their capacity,” said DSP Dhakal.

One tipper entrepreneur and driver, however, said that traffic police had started tormenting them after they stopped giving them bribe money.

Locals said that tippers loaded with limestone beyond their capacity had caused the Mirchaiya-Katari road section to deteriorate.

“Due to these tippers, other vehicles have to struggle to ply the road,” said Hari Kishan Yadav of Mirchaiya.
