A total of 52 candidates have submitted their nomination papers for the upcoming National Assembly seat elections scheduled for January 25.
Nominations were filed today across various categories in the respective election offices of the seven provinces.
Among the candidates who submitted their nominations today in the seven provinces, 17 are competing in the women's category, six in the Dalit category, eight in the persons with disabilities or minority communities category, and 21 in other groups, according to the Election Commission.
Commission spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudyal shared that the candidates' nomination papers were registered at the offices of the Election Officers established in all seven provinces from 10 am to 3 pm today.
Five candidates each have registered their nominations in the Koshi and Madhes provinces, 15 in Bagmati, eight in Gandaki, seven in Lumbini province, and six each in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
According to the election calendar announced by the EC, complaints against the candidates can be registered on January 9. The nomination papers and complaints received will be reviewed, and the list of candidates will be published on January 10 and 11.
Candidates will be able to withdraw their names on January 12, and the final list will be published with election symbols distributed to the candidates on January 13."
