5500 litres of illegal liquor destroyed in Dhading

DHADING: In a bid to curb various criminal activities, domestic violence cases and brawls resulting out of excessive consumption of liquor, Area Police Office in Gajuri, Dhading has launched a campaign to search and destroy illegally manufactured liquor.

The police, in the process, seized 230 litres of homemade liquor stationed for sales near a bailey bridge situated in Benighat Rorang Rural Muncipality -3 on Thursday.

A five-member team in command of Assistant Sub-Inspector Hira Bahadur Giri seized the liquor. Later, the team in association with the Chief of Rorang Municipality Pitta Bahadur Dallakoti, Deputy-Chief Devi Prasad Silwal and Ward No 3 Chief Bhuwan Tripathi, destroyed the captured liquor.

Likewise, a 15-member police team also destroyed over 5000 litres of illegal liquor seized at a settlement in Chalise, Ward No 2 of  Gajuri Rural Municipality on Thursday. The police were tipped off about the illegal production and sales of alcohol at the settlement situated next to the highway, Inspector Sanjay Timilsina, In-Charge of Gajuri Area Police Office said.

According to Timilsina, police took under control 4900 litres of ‘raw’ liquor and 250 litres ready liquor from 13 houses at Chalise-2. Similarly, around 15 different kind of vessels used for fermentation have also been taken under control.
