6 houses gutted in Bajura blaze

BAJURA: At least six houses were gutted in a fire that broke out in a Haliya settlement of Swamikartik Rural Municipality-3 in Bajura district on Monday night.

The village caught fire from the flames the children were playing outside one of the houses in Jukot.

The property including the food items among other essential commodities stored in the houses belonging to Khante Kami, Nare Kami, Harmale Kami, Dhana Bahadur Kami, Dhanaraj Kami, and Gore Kami were gutted in the fire, in Jukot last night, according to Inspector Jagadish Bhatta, the chief of District Police Office, Bajura.

The loss incurred in the blaze is estimated at around Rs 800,000, police informed.

It was difficult to control the blaze as fires were breaking out everywhere from the adjoining houses in the neighbourhood, local resident said.

Those who have lost their houses have become homeless and helpless after their thatched roof houses went up in flames.

Meanwhile, they are staying in the neighbour's cowshed.

It has been learnt that the poor families bearing the loss in the blaze had been working in the fields of landlords for living.
