6 killed, 20 injured in motley road accidents
RUPANDEHI: At least six persons were killed and 20 others injured in separate road accidents across the country during the past 24 hours.
Three persons were killed and eight passengers injured when a Kathmandu-bound bus (Na 2 Kha 5915) from Nepalgunj turned turtle at Devdaha-9 in Rupandehi district today. The dead have been identified as Som Maya Tamang of Lamjung, her daughter Susma Tamang, 8 and handy-boy Sushil Acharya, the police said.
Two passengers returned home after receiving treatment, while six were being treated in Lumbini Zonal Hospital, the police added. The accident occurred after the ill-fated bus hit a tree along the road, police said.
In Kaski, two members of a family were killed and 11 other injured when a jeep (Ga 1 Ja 3795) heading to Hemja from Lwanghale chowk met with an accident at Mardikhola of Hemja VDC-8 today.
Bishal BK, 13 and his eleven-year-old brother Anil, residents of Lwanghale died on the spot in the accident that occurred at 9 am, Kaski District Police Office said, adding, the injured were being treated in local hospital. The jeep had veered off 50 meters down the Mardi River, police said.
A report from Nepalgunj said, Lukni Yadav was killed when a truck (Bhe 1 Kha 166) heading to Nepalgunj from the East hit a rickshaw in Ranja in Banke last night. Rickshaw puller Dhani Ram who was injured in the accident was undergoing treatment in Bheri Zonal Hospital, police said.
Irate locals had obstructed Nepalgunj-Kohalpur road following the incident.
