Karnali Province has spent 62.37 per cent of its annual budget in the current fiscal 2021-22.

According to the Provincial Comptroller Office, Birendranagar, of the Rs 38.47 billion budget of the province for the current fiscal year, Rs 23.99 billion has been spent.

Comptroller Man Bahadur Bom shared that payment for the current fiscal year had been stopped from last midnight. The provision in the Financial Procedure Rules mandates that the payment be closed a week prior to the end of the fiscal year.

Bom further informed that among the budget expenditure, current expenditure stood at Rs 9.12 billion while Rs 14.75 billion was recorded under capital expenditure.

Of the budget allocated for government agencies and offices, the province legislature recorded 78 per cent budget expenditure, Province Public Service Commission 74 per cent, Attorney General's Office 95 per cent, and Province Planning Commission 37 per cent, he said.

Among the ministries in the province, some recorded minimal budget expenditure as 38 per cent budget expenditure by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law and 47 per cent by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development while the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives recorded the highest at 75 per cent, according to Provincial Comptroller Office, Birendranagar.
