RAUTAHAT, JULY 10
Smuggling of goods and commodities from India to Nepal has adversely affected government revenue collection in Rautahat.
Goods and daily essentials are entering Nepal via the main gate of the customs office. There are neither security personnel nor employees of the customs office to stop the smuggling of goods.
A team of the SSB in India does not allow anyone except common people to carry goods to the Nepali side via the customs office. It is reported that they have permitted smugglers to take goods and essentials from the route to the east and west of the customs office.
Goods brought from India are entering Nepal through Krantidwar.
It is learnt that personnel of Nepal police and APF do not stop the illegal activities as they get paid money on a weekly and monthly basis.
A source said that smuggling of goods and commodities was continuing unabated in collusion with the APF and Nepal police personnel in plainclothes.
