NAWALPUR: An elderly man, who repeatedly raped a 14-year-old girl and impregnated her, has been arrested on Tuesday, police said.

According to Rajendra Adhikari, Police Inspector at District Police Office, Nawalpur, Tek Bahadur Ghale, 65, of Bharatpur Municipality-16, currently residing at Gairi in Nawalpur, was arrested on the rape charges yesterday.

Subsequently, police presented the suspect before the District Court today itself and remanded him in custody for further investigation, Inspector Adhikari shared.

After a preliminary investigation, police have revealed that Ghale used to lure the minor girl with monetary value before committing the heinous crime. Medical tests have confirmed that the minor is 12 weeks pregnant, police said.

Police quoted the doctors as saying that the 12-week foetus cannot be aborted. The news came to fore after the family members of the victim noticed an unexpected growth in her abdomen.

The family then filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the sexagenarian and demanded stern action against him.
