KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 14
The 7 Summits Foundation recently completed a three-day event in Tapting Solu Dudhkunda, engaging the communities of Okhaldhunga and Solu Khumbu.
Honorary Consul General for Washington State AC Sherpa who is also the founder chairman of the 7 Summits Foundation was present on the occasion along with other guests.
The event featured a volleyball tournament with over 20 teams, promoting local athleticism and community interaction. A two-day eye camp provided essential examinations to over 250 patients, with cataract surgeries performed for more than 35 individuals to improve their vision and quality of life, 7SF founder AC Sherpa said.
In response to recent floods in Tapting and Gorahkani, the foundation distributed Rs 1,250,000 to families of five women and children who lost their lives in the disaster, each receiving Rs 125,000, and set up an education fund of Rs 500,000 for surviving children. This initiative reflects our dedication to helping the most vulnerable members of our community during times of crisis, AC Sherpa added.
The closing ceremony included performances by Nepali artists and participation from local leaders such as Mayor Namgyal Jangbu Sherpa and Deputy Mayor G Gandhi Maya Tamang.
Donations were made by DJ Tenzing (Rs 1 lakh and sound systems), Pema Sharp Sherpa (Rs 50,000), Dev Rana Magar ($401), Nima Lamu Sherpa ($375), PG Sherpa ($300), Pemba Dorjee Sherpa ($300), Furwa Sherpa ($250), and Sonam Sherpa ($250).
The event was supported by the Himalayan Yokpu Foundation, Wongchu Memorial Hospital, Himal Dental Hospital, Matrika Eye Centre, and Solu Dudhkunda Municipality.
The 7 Summits Foundation continues to focus on community empowerment and sustainable development, Sherpa added.
