Nawalparasi, January 2:

At least 70 Maoist People’s Liberation Army (PLA) personnel of Basanta Memorial Brigade in Nawalparasi district have fallen ill due to cold.

The People’s Liberation Army soldiers of the fourth division camp are suffering from pneumonia, among other diseases, division deputy commander Pratiksha said, adding that the People’s Liberation Army soldiers who were injured during the conflict have been badly affected.

The Maoist camps here are not properly managed and lack basic facilities.

The cold wave has affected life here for the past five days.

“There is lack of logistics and medicines. The number of cold-affected people here is increasing by the day,” Pratiksha said.
