77 women, children go missing in Baitadi in two years
BAITADI: As many as 77 women and children were reported missing in Baitadi district in two years.
According to the District Police Office, 21 women and 17 children went missing in the district in fiscal year 2016/17. Similarly, 28 women and 11 children are reported to have gone missing in fiscal year 2017/18.
Spokesperson of the DPO, Inspector Kantiraj Joshi said, statistics revealed that the number of missing women showed an increasing trend. Police suspect that some of the missing women might have married at an early age and gone to India.
Police stated that out of the 38 missing in fiscal year 2016/17, 10 women and 11 children have come into contact with their families.
Likewise, out of the 39 missing in fiscal year 2017/18, two women and two children have come into contact with their families.
Out of five women and children said to have gone missing in the current fiscal year, only one girl has come back home, according to police.
