8-party meet likely today

Kathmandu, August 17:

Top leaders of the eight political parties are likely to convene a meeting tomorrow to overcome looming doubts over the possibility of holding the constituent assembly election on November 22.

A source close to the High-level Inter-party Coordination Committee (HICC) told this daily that the top leaders of the eight-party alliance would hold a meeting tomorrow following the HICC meeting in the morning.

An informal meeting of Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel of Nepali Congress, Jhala Nath Khanal of the CPN-UML, Dr Baburam Bhattarai of the CPN-Maoist and Bimalendra Nidhi of the NC-D decided to convene the meeting of HICC tomorrow morning to form the agenda for the meeting of eight-party alliance.

Main agenda of the top leaders’ meeting may include the deteriorating security situation, preparations to be made by

the political parties for the assembly polls, government’s readiness for holding talks with the disgruntled groups and others.
