9 districts shut in Eastern Nepal

DAMAK: Limbuwan Province Council (LPC), affiliated with National Janamukti Party called bandh opposing the government special security plan has affected the life of eastern Nepal's nine districts on Thursday. In a press release, CP Tumbahamphe, a central chairman of LPC, said that the bandh has been called due to the government's special security plan intending to suppress the ethnic and the indigenous communities. The transportation, markets, industry and education institution have been closed in districts-- Jhapa, Ilam, Sunsari, Morang, Panchthar, Dhankuta, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha and Tehrathum. Similarly, the LPC stated that it would celebrate 22 Shrawan as the black day citing the agreement inked in Shrawan 22, 1831 between the Gorka State and Limbuban as a deception. The government launched the special security plan to strengthen the security of the nation from July 26, 2009.
