9-member headquarters to run CPN Maoist Centre
KATHMANDU: The CPN Maoist Centre has announced to run the party through its headquarters for the time being.
The first meeting of the Maoist party's Central Committee decided to incorporate Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Ram Bahadur Thapa, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Matrika Yadav, Dev Gurung, Tilak Pariyar, Mani Thapa and Jayapuri Gharti into the headquarters, led by the party chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
The CPN Maoist Centre was recently formed with the unification of several Maoist parties and groups, including the Dahal-led UCPN-Maoist and the Ram Bahadur Thapa-led CPN Revolutionary Maoist as the major constituents.
It has been learned that the nine-member headquarters will lead the party till a new work division is made and the office bearers are chosen.
Meanwhile, the meeting decided that the party have a 51-member central secretariat and a 151-member politburo.
The CC members have been assigned with finalising unification process at the province level in all seven provinces, according to Dahal's secretariat.
The CC meeting formed a seven-member Central Editorial Team under the leadership of Dahal to publish an official mouthpiece to commemorate the party unification.
Meanwhile, former CPN-Revolutionary Maoist spokesperson Pampha Bhusal has been appointed the party spokesperson.
The one-month plan of the party has also been endorsed.
The party's Central Committee meeting, which kicked off here in the Capital yesterday, resumed this afternoon and concluded making the decision.
