9,000 litres fuel seized from buses

Police took two buses under control after they were found to be carrying illegal fuel from Chandranigahapur in Rautahat today morning.

The vehicles, which were heading towards Kathmandu from Kakarbhitta, had hidden petroleum products under the seats and on the hood, among other secret places.

As much as 9,000 litres fuel was seized from the buses, said police. Police said only 20 passengers were travelling in two buses.

The bus drivers claimed that the fuel belonged to the passengers travelling in the buses.

Police said four businessmen had reserved Agni Transportation Service at 109,000 rupees and hidden the illegal fuel to be taken to Kathmandu. Police further informed that the fuel was being taken to Kathmandu to sell in the black-market.

One of the passengers Chandra Tamang of Kakarbhitta said the fuel was being taken to Kathmandu for personal use not for selling.

DSP Manoj Yadav of Area Police Office, Chandranigahapur said the police took the passenger buses under control and seized the fuel after being informed that the buses were carrying fuel.
